PENNSYLVANIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY STATEMENT ON THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN

Today, on the three-year anniversary of President Biden signing the American Rescue Plan into law, Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chair Senator Sharif Street released the following statement:

“Three years ago today, President Biden signed the historic American Rescue Plan into law to put Pennsylvania on track to recover from the pandemic and kickstart our great American comeback. By providing critical, direct relief to Pennsylvanians, the American Rescue Plan paved the way for the robust economic growth and progress we’re seeing today – but every single Republican in Congress voted against this legislation and ultimately put Pennsylvanians last. As Trump and MAGA Republicans threaten to roll back our progress by pushing to raise costs on the middle class, gut the Affordable Care Act, and make life harder for working families, President Biden and Vice President Harris are staunchly committed to fighting for Pennsylvania families’ futures.”

Four PA GOP congressmen asked US Supreme Court to ban popular abortion medication

The 1873 Comstock Act bans the mailing of abortion-related items and it’s straight from the right-wing’s Project 2025 playbook should Trump get reelected. 

Four Pennsylvania Republican congressmen signed onto an amicus brief asking the US Supreme Court to use a law from 1873 to restrict access to the popular abortion pill mifepristone.

145 Republican lawmakers signed on to the brief and the four Pennsylvania congressmen include US Reps. GT Thompson, Guy Reschenthaler, Lloyd Smucker and Mike Kelly.   

The amicus brief cites the 1873 Comstock Act, a zombie law, that bans mailing abortion related items.

It is the same law right-wing extremists associated with Project 2025, an extremely anti-democratic transition plan, want former President Donald Trump to enforce as a way to ban access to abortion without Congressional approval should Trump win a second term. 

The Supreme Court will hear a case on March 26 where right-wing activists are trying to ban the distribution of mifepristone, the country’s most popular abortion medication.

We are currently looking for local Democrats who would like to volunteer some time to reach out to voters to help energize them to vote on November 7. As they are statewide phonebanks, these phonebanks will be focused primarily on Dan McCaffery’s state supreme court race and the other statewide judicial candidates, and the focus will be to talk to likely supporters and help them to make a plan to vote. 

The process is easy! You call into the dialer, which then hides your number and dials through target numbers until someone picks up, then transfers the call to the volunteer and pulls up the appropriate script on their computer/tablet. Here are the links:

BREAKING: MCCORMICK CAUGHT IN ANOTHER LIE TO COVER UP HIS SUPPORT FOR BANNING ABORTION

New reporting from Business Insider has caught David McCormick in yet another lie as part of his failed attempts to cover up his support for an abortion ban without exceptions for rape or incest. The report finds that McCormick removed a page on his campaign website describing himself as “staunchly pro-life” at a time when Republican leadership is ringing the alarm that “pro-life” candidates are out of step with voters.

Meet Dan Glotz who is running for County Commissioner?

Dan Glotz is a current Warren County Planner specifically include co-founding Walkable Warren, regional efforts with the PA Wilds, creating and implementing the Warren Bike-Hike Trail and, recently, leading the creation of the county’s park and comprehensive plans, and much more.

He also is committed to working with the Boy Scouts since 1984, Special Olympics since 1994 and boasts awards including the 2017 WCCBI Community Service Award and 2022 Route 6 Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award.

Glotz, who lives in Conewango Township with his wife, Sandy, emphasized three specific priorities he would have as commissioner – broadband internet expansion, the expansion of tourism and recreation opportunities as well as utilizing “pro-business ideas and work to attract new businesses to Warren County and support those we have.” We hope to see you out on November 7, 2023 supporting Dan.
